Where are you from/where did you grow up?
Originally from Vancouver, Canada moved to NYC to go to the School of Visual Arts and am now living in South Slope, Brooklyn where I make art and raise my children.
How did you get into your art practice?
I studied illustration at SVA focusing on children’s books. I do mixed media art in my books which I both write and illustrate.
How does your work connect to Brooklyn?
One of my most popular picture books is ‘B is for Brooklyn’, additionally many of my titles reflect the diversity and vibrancy of the borough, like ‘I is for Immigrants’, ‘My Subway Ride’, ‘Why am I Me?’, and ‘Can I Touch Your Hair?'
