Get To Know The Maker
Where are you from/where did you grow up?
I grew up in the South Bronx. Moved to Greenwich Village, then to Brooklyn Heights in 1977 because the neighborhood reminded me of the artsy West Village.
Why did you start your business?
I started as a street artist and met two people in the same week who told me to show my art to the same agent. I did, and she helped me get jobs with the publishing companies for decades.
How does your business connect to Brooklyn?
I’ve written and illustrated many urban stories, some are based on the laundromat and the supermarket on Montague Street in my Brooklyn neighborhood; another takes place at Coney Island.
