Where are you from/where did you grow up?
Nate grew up in Chicago and came to Brooklyn after attending college upstate because he loves big city life.
Why did you start your business?
We make each and every chocolate bar from scratch in our factory in Red Hook, Brooklyn. We also welcome the community to our factory retail shop and our classrooms where we host bean-to-bar chocolate making classes, coffee & chocolate pairings, and truffle making classes. We love chocolate and Brooklyn <3
How does your work connect to Brooklyn?
We wanted to share the fruity, tangy, uncommon flavors of unroasted cacao with the world through chocolate. We also wanted to change the cacao supply chain and offer something better for the world and the planet using our Transparent Trade sourcing model.
This maple-sweetened vegan chocolate bar reminds us of homemade granola covered in chocolate; it could be breakfast, but it could also be dessert. Cane sugar-free and dairy free. Contains coconut. All of Raaka's chocolate is certified organic, certified kosher, vegan, soy free, gluten free, and non-GMO and made with ethically sourced, transparently traded unroasted cacao.
