Description
This square-shaped scarf depicts the vibrant, inlaid colors of Center for Brooklyn History’s prized Minton tiles. The exquisite designs on these tiles were often appropriated (without due credit) from regions including India, North and East Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean, the South Pacific and Southeast Asia. They are named for Herbert Minton (1793–1858), the Victorian industrialist who renewed interest in medieval ceramic firing techniques.
