Where are you from/where did you grow up?
I’m originally from Canada. I moved to New York City (Manhattan) in 2000 and then to Brooklyn in 2006.
Why did you start your business?
I started Flatbush Granola on a dare from my best friend after she tasted my Cranberry Classic granola. I started making candles after a day of baking of chai-spiced granola. The kitchen smelled so amazing that it prompted me to start looking into candle-making
How does your work connect to Brooklyn?
My granolas are inspired by the diverse cultures of Brooklyn, while my candles are named after Brooklyn neighborhoods, like Bedstuy Baddie and Fort Greene Fresh. My vision is to always celebrate the unique characteristics of Brooklyn through the personalities of each neighborhood.
