Get To Know The Maker
Where are you from/where did you grow up?
Caroline immigrated to the US with her family from Europe when she was in grade school. Chris was born in Australia and moved to the US in 2001. We live and work in Brooklyn! We moved here because it is the best place to live and have a business. Each Brooklyn neighborhood has its own unique vibe created by the diverse small businesses on every block. We love walking our dogs in Prospect Park, watching the Cyclones play in Coney Island and taking advantage of the many art, music and theater offerings….plus the great food!
Why did you start your business?
We started Cafe Grumpy with the simple idea of sharing good coffee with our community.
How does your work connect to Brooklyn?
We opened our first coffee shop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in 2005. Our roasting facility where we roast all of our coffee is located next door to our original cafe location.
